Putting a tutu on my 5 on Friday...

The fact that I've been on the 5 on Friday train for the third week in a row, is pretty miraculous.. Let's dive right in.

1. This past Sunday, I got to judge the cheerleading try-outs for my college alma mater. It was a 5-hour try-out process and we had to select a squad of 14 (12 with 2 alternates) from over 30 talented girls. After the initial judging process, we spread out on the mats with their pictures and put together the was very American Idol-esque.

2. My Dad, aka my Bestie with Testes was in town for a hot minute.

He works a lot, so unfortunately I don't get to see him that often, but it was WONDERFUL being able to spend my last normal meal on his tab.. He also spoiled me with some groceries and a tank of gas. Love you lots, Dad! We have hopes to compete on The Amazing Race one day.. hopefully this year, will be the year of the audition video. I'll keep you posted.

3. Yesterday was the first day of the Whole 30. Separate posts to come on this... Basically, it's an elimination diet (no wheat, gluten, soy, legumes, dairy, sugar or artificial sweeteners). I'm a foodie and it's undoubtedly one of the hardest things I think I'll do in a 30 day time span. I probably should have done more meal planning prior to just diving in, but I'll do that this weekend and really get on top of it. This diet really isn't one that you can just wing. And no, I'm not doing this for weight loss. That may be a benefit [fingers crossed] but it's designed to reset your body and allow you to reintroduce foods that you can identify as triggers, and for me this might be a way I can eliminate the triggers that make my Rosacea worse.

4. Tomorrow is prom (It's Great Gatsby theme.. I swoon...) and teachers are required to chaperone a dance. So... Kiki la Rue and I went to a local costume shop and rented 1920's outfits.. She'll be rocking a flapper girl outfit and I'll be wearing a snazzy drop waist evening gown, complete with a wig. For sneak peeks prior to Sunday's post, check out my Instagram.

5. I've briefly talked about it, but I am pretty active in the local community theater. I act in a show or two each season and am involved in the Murder Mystery Troupe, which is both acting and improv. I love love love interacting with the guests as my character. You never know what they are going to say, and it's so FUN. Anyways, for Mother's Day weekend again this year, I'll be involved in Love, Loss & What I Wore. It's based on the stories by the late Nora Ephron, and it's funny, sad, and heart warming all at the same time..

Oh.. and I get to wear a ginormous tutu.. like I'm not even kidding.. here's a snap shot of my tutu swallowing me in my car for a past performance.. and I may or may not have worn it as a Day of the Dead/Halloween costume... I told the costume shop last year that I wasn't giving it back..I think they thought I was joking.
